Dr. Halimahtun M. Khalid is Executive Director and Principal Scientist of her own companies, Damai Sciences, located in Malaysia and Singapore.
Prior to this, she has held distinguished positions at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak as Professor of Cognitive Ergonomics, Founding Director of the Institute of Design and Ergonomics Application, and Founding Dean, Centre for Applied Learning and Multimedia. Currently, she is Chair of the Science, Technology and Practice Standing Committee of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA), as well as Co-Chair of the Affective Design Technical Committee. She is also a Past President of the Southeast Asian Ergonomics Society (SEAES), and the Work with Computing Systems (WWCS) Group.
On the research front, she is the principal investigator and project leader of several international and national grants. Presently, she is Co-Technical Manager of the CATER Project funded by the European Commission under Framework 6 IST Call 5. She is also involved in the US Air Force ROSETTA project on multicultural cognition. She won the 2002 Malaysian Ministry of Science & Technology gold award for her assistive device prototype.
She has authored more than 100 publications and has delivered several keynote addresses at major international conferences. She received her Ph.D. in Ergonomics from the Faculty of Engineering, University College London, UK, and M.Sc. in Applied Experimental Psychology from Monash University, Australia.
