It is our great pleasure to announce that Professor David C. Caple, the President of IEA has accepted to become a keynote speaker at the conference. We welcome him.In 1984, David established one of the first private consulting practices in Australia specialising in ergonomics. During the initial decade, he was primarily engaged in the litigation and research associated with the repetitive strain injury (RSI) issues which were dominant in the Australian workforce during this decade. He has subsequently been involved in international investigations associated with this area in USA, and the EU.
The primary areas of professional activity involve consulting across major industry sectors including automotive manufacturing, mining, off shore oil and gas exploration, banking, hospitality and recreation, as well as a range of government, and service industries.
David has also been involved in undertaking commissioned research on a range of initiatives such as proactive programs for governments to deal with ergonomics in small and medium sized workplaces, evaluation of the impact of government regulation on the prevention of musculo skeletal injuries. David is also a regular guest lecturer at a range of post graduate programs in universities in Australia. He also conducts professional development programs for government Inspectors.
Apart from the Director of the consulting company with 13 post graduate qualified associates, David has also a number of voluntary roles. He is currently the Chair of the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) Standing Committee on International Development. He is also the independent member of the government OHS prevention authority in Victoria, Australia.
David also holds other non work related responsibilities including Board Member of a local school and a range of other community responsibilities. He is an active participant within the IEA as a regular attendee of the annual meetings and triennial congress since 1976. He is also past President of the Ergonomics Society of Australia and attended the annual conferences of this society since 1976. He has published papers in a range of peer review journals and numerous key note addresses and conference presentations.
